What about Bill Self?

Monday night, the Kentucky Wildcats beat the Kansas Jayhawks for the NCAA Basketball Championship.  I’m not a Jayhawk fan, and never will be, but in light of Monday night, I’ve been thinking about Bill Self, their coach.  The man accomplished something that none the 31 other teams on his half of the March Madness bracket did.  The Jayhawks had their ups and downs with blowouts and close calls.  Continue Reading…

Bridging the Gap Between Culture and Gospel

Culture is quite finicky.  It changes without warning, holds no loyalties, and is always moving.  For the most part I don’t mind it.  In fact, I enjoy certain elements of culture like social media, (somewhat) modern styles, and learning how the various generations interact.  The problem is that I’m always playing catch up.  No matter how much time I devote to learning about culture, I’m always a step or two behind. If God Loves Tim Tebow, Why is Peyton Manning a Bronco?

For those who aren’t familiar with the world of sports something crazy happened in the last couple weeks.  Tim Tebow, who is the poster boy for Christianity in the NFL, has been replaced by none other than perhaps one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Peyton Manning.  It’s hard to imagine the Broncos now being serious contenders for the Super Bowl, and Tim Tebow’s soon departure as all part of God’s plan.
