For some of the seniors in churches around the country, they see the young as disrespectful and irresponsible.  Which, to be honest, is sometimes true.  Young people can be bold and headstrong.  They often throw caution to the wind, and include tradition along with it. Why the young need the old. 

Lots of churches cater to the younger generations.  They have loud music, awesome lights, fog machines, and other cool stuff that would help attract young people to their church.  But few of these churches have many older people.  They focus their attention on capturing those who are young, and passionate, and energetic; neglecting those who are over 80, or 70, or 60.  Continue Reading…

Forgiveness.

Forgiveness is one of those things that isn’t easy, but seems to be vital to the life of a Christian.  The way we forgive, reflects the forgiveness that God has shown us.  Our willingness to make amends flies in the face of our revenge-based nature.

The other night I noticed that in Matthew 18 when Peter is asking Jesus how many times he must forgive someone.  You know, the one where Jesus blows his mind with 77 (or 490, depending on your translation) instead of a measly seven.  The interesting thing is that the question isn’t about forgiveness, it’s about not forgiving.  Continue Reading…
