Anything worth Doing is Worth Doing… Poorly?

We’ve all heard the maximum “Anything worth doing, is worth doing well.”  We’ve seen poor organizations and churches who have totally discarded that model.  I even wrote a post about the importance of excellence in churches.  But I’m not sure I totally agree.  I understand our need for doing things well.  I understand the necessity of creating new ways to reach new generations.  But I still think there’s a place for poor quality on occasion.  Continue Reading…

Excellence Vs. Convenience

“Anything worth doing, is worth doing well.”  Churches have used this line of reasoning to spend billions on buildings, or to do extravagant outreaches, or to decline Aunt Susie’s offer to sing a special.  Churches have used this thought to only have the best musicians on stage, and plenty of ministers have used this excuse to justify buying a mac over a pc (sorry, couldn’t resist).  Despite all this the question becomes: Is that really true for churches?  Is anything worth doing, worth doing well?  I think there’s a lot of tension in this topic. The Church isn’t Perfect, but She’s in it for the Long Haul

I love the church.  I feel like after spending the last three weeks talking about the church of the living dead, I need to do some clarifying.  I absolutely love the church.  I love watching people come together to serve others.  It’s crazy to think that God would give us the opportunity to be ambassadors for him to our neighbors.
