We’ve all heard the maximum “Anything worth doing, is worth doing well.”  We’ve seen poor organizations and churches who have totally discarded that model.  I even wrote a post about the importance of excellence in churches.  But I’m not sure I totally agree.  I understand our need for doing things well.  I understand the necessity of creating new ways to reach new generations.  But I still think there’s a place for poor quality on occasion.  Continue Reading…

“Anything worth doing, is worth doing well.”  Churches have used this line of reasoning to spend billions on buildings, or to do extravagant outreaches, or to decline Aunt Susie’s offer to sing a special.  Churches have used this thought to only have the best musicians on stage, and plenty of ministers have used this excuse to justify buying a mac over a pc (sorry, couldn’t resist).  Despite all this the question becomes: Is that really true for churches?  Is anything worth doing, worth doing well?  I think there’s a lot of tension in this topic.
