Lessons from One Day in Romans

03/12/2013

Quotes from RomansLast week I had the opportunity to continue working on my Master’s degree.  My Romans class was really good, but I jotted down some of my favorite quotes from the day-long seminar.  They might not all be original to Dr. Elliot, but they are all great reminders of how God uses the book of Romans.  Today I wanted to share them with you.

“Romans is full of bad news and good news.  The bad news is in chapters 1 through 3.  The good news of Romans is the best news, the forever news.”

“God has seen us at our worst, and loved us.”

“God doesn’t love us because Christ died for us, Christ died for us because God loves us.”

“It’s not enough to know Christ died for us, but we must remember that we died with him.”

“Legalism should not harm fellowship in the church.”

“The ground is level at the cross.”

What’s your favorite book of the Bible?

  1. Romans and The Gospel According to John are my favorite books.
But it’s hard to choose anyways.

  2. My favorite Old Testament book is Isaiah, I love seeing the prophesy how it was spelled out and how everything points to Jesus and every time you read it you see and learn something new about Jesus. My favorite New Testament favorite book is James it is just so down to earth and practical, I am drawn to it over and over again.

  3. Haven’t heard the last one–ground is level at the cross, Explain please.

    • It reminds us that no matter what we’ve accomplished or who we are, that when it comes to salvation we are all the same, we are all in need of Christ’s redemption.
