This blog has never been, and never will be a workout/weight loss blog. However, this morning when I was finished working out as my wife and I got ready to go to work she mentioned to me that she always feels so much better after working out. I didn’t believe her. I don’t work out because it helps me feel better, in fact, normally I’m just tired after I work out. I ride my stationary bike because I want to be healthy, not because it’s enjoyable.
Now, can I be honest with you? Sometimes I read the Bible for the same reason. I don’t always sit down to read the Bible because it makes me feel better. I don’t always sit down, because I expect some kind of insight from God. I read my Bible because I want to be healthy. Sure, that’s not the most spiritual answer, but I’d venture to guess that I’m not the only one. I don’t think God minds it either.
Sure, He wants to connect with us, He wants us to feel refreshed and reinvigorated after we spend time with Him, but it doesn’t always happen. Sometimes I’m stressed about work, or my mind is on something else. Occasionally all I can really do is pray for a bit of peace, and continue to try to stay spiritually healthy.
