Contagious Zombie Christianity

05/02/2012

The most dangerous aspect of zombies is, simply put, their disease.  Zombies don’t just become zombies, but rather they infect others in order to create more zombies, who infect others to create even more zombies.  The contagious factor is the scariest part of zombies.  The scariest part of zombie Christians is the same thing, the fact that anyone is susceptible to their disease.

Any of us can be infected at any time.

The zombie Christian is a unique creature in that rarely are they ok with minding their own business.  Rather each of us are capable of slowly conceding to the disease at any moment.  To be honest, I’ve struggled with the disease myself at times.  I am guilty of selfishness.  I am guilty of just going through the motions.  I am guilty of preying on others.  I am guilty of ignorance.  The scariest part of this whole series, after all this talk of zombie Christians, is that on any given day I can become one of them.  You can become one of them.

The thoughts, actions, and words of zombie Christians can rub off on any of us, making each of us susceptible to the disease.

So how do you stop it?  How do you keep away the disease of selfishness, or apathy, or using others?

  1. I think the biggest key to avoiding this plague is to recognize the symptoms in ourselves rather than pointing fingers elsewhere.

  2. Yes, and always go back to “looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.” Let the Spirit and the Word evaluate us often to keep us on the right track.

  3. Kinda scary, but you’re totally right. None of us are above falling prey to the symptoms you’ve mentioned- and they are quite infectious and caustic.
